About this course

This course takes attendees through the steps required to plan and conduct a depreciation study. Through class discussion, the instructor demonstrates the PowerPlan options on a practical and theoretical level. There is instruction and discussion of the analysis tools used for forecasting service lives, estimating salvage and cost of removal, and calculating annual accrual rates and theoretical reserves.

Objectives:

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain what goes into a depreciation study
  • Describe how to maintain your depreciation study database over the long-term
  • Estimate the service life of your assets
  • Analyze salvage and cost of removal
  • Determine the depreciation rates suitable for your company

Intended Audience:

Anyone who is responsible for conducting a depreciation study using PowerPlan, or anyone who is interested in learning more about it.

 

Additional Information:

Prerequisites: Basic understanding of plant accounting.

Advanced Preparation: None

Program Level: Intermediate

Delivery Method: Group Internet Based

Class sessions will be held each day from 10:00am - 3:00pm (EDT) with a one hour break for lunch from 12:00pm - 1:00pm.

CPE Credits = 8 credits possible (1 Statistics, 3 Accounting, 4 Specialized Knowledge)

In order to be awarded the full credits, participants must be present the entire training session and respond to 3 polling questions per hour. Credits will be rounded down to the nearest half credit.

We are unable to grant CPE credit in cases where technical difficulties preclude eligibility. CPE Program Sponsorship guidelines prohibit us from issuing credit to those not verified by the technology to have satisfied the minimum requirements listed above.
